Organic products

Instructions on entering organic products in the Data Pool from 22 May 2013. The instructions have been updated to meet the requirements on the Data Pool from 12 May 2016.
The instructions contain separate guidelines for entering organic products in the retail and Horeca sectors. If the product is distributed via both of these channels, follow the guidelines concerning retail products.
The instructions on Packaging Marked Label Accreditation Code F7017 apply both to retail and Horeca products.

Differences between retail and Horeca products

There are differences between retail and Horeca products in how information should be provided. If the product is distributed via both of these channels, follow the guidelines concerning retail products.

Retail products

The goal is to make the information provided for consumers on various added value features of products more transparent and unambiguous. This goal also affects the product information entered in the Data Pool. The organic added value indication must be included in the item information in Synkka only if it is also indicated on the packaging.

Horeca products

Horeca products can be marked as organic in Synkka even if this information is not provided on the packaging. Consumers do not compare the packaging labels and registered information of Horeca products. However, operators in the Horeca sector need this information in order to serve the consumers better.

Packaging Marked Label Accreditation Code F7017

Packaging marked labels are reported in Synkka Product as follows: if the product has been accredited with a label and the label is marked on the packaging, it is entered in the Data Pool. The supplier is responsible for ensuring that the product has been accredited with the label in question.

The accreditation code may not be entered if the label is not marked on the packaging.

If the product loses its right to use the label, the information must also be removed from the Data Pool.

Adding and removing packaging marked label accreditation codes affects the product’s identification data, i.e., the GTIN code. If the identification data of a product change, the GTIN code must also be updated.

Enter the organic status of the product in the Packaging Marked Label Accreditation Code F7017 field. The official ecolabels are listed below. If an ecolabel is provided for the product in the Packaging Marked Label Accreditation Code F7017 field in the Data Pool, the same label must be indicated on the packaging.

The word ‘organic’ may also be included in the name of the product in the Data Pool as an additional variant. The recipients of the product data, for example, retail chains, search for information on the organic status of products in the packaging labels.

Furthermore, organic products must be equipped with information on the certifying body, in accordance with the Council Regulation (EC) No 834/2007 on organic production. The ID of the regulatory organisation or authority is entered in the Regulatory Permit Identification F7152 field.

The value entered in the Regulatory Agency F7356 field is EU. The value entered in the Regulatory Act F7357 data field is 834_2007_Certification.

Certain products can also be marked as organic using the GPC Attribute Type Code F7112.
